How to adopt a cat from Morrison County Animal Humane Society
Morrison County Animal Humane Society is home to cats and kittens of all ages, personalities, and colors. Our feline residents enjoy spacious kennels, cozy bedding, toys, treats, and daily enrichment from staff and volunteers.
Whether you’re looking for a playful kitten, a calm lap companion, or an independent companion, our adoption counselors are here to help you find the perfect match. We encourage you to meet several cats during your appointment. New cats arrive regularly, so check back often.
✨ What’s Included with Adoption
1. Submit an Adoption Application: Applications are available through QR codes at the front desk and throughout the adoption areas. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt — it simply starts the conversation.
2. Wait for Contact from MCAHS: A staff member will reach out to schedule your adoption appointment.
3. Your Appointment: Please bring a cat carrier with you.
When you arrive, you’re welcome to browse the adoption floor. Please keep kennel doors closed and be mindful of your fingers. If you’d like to meet a cat outside of their kennel, talk to staff about setting up an adoption appointment.

- Age‑appropriate vaccinations
- Microchip
- Flea & tick preventatives (if needed)
- If a pet still needs spay/neuter surgery, you will be required to bring them back on their scheduled date.
- All animals must be 8 weeks or older before leaving the shelter.

- If you have children at home, we recommend adults meet the animal first.
- We do not conduct cat‑to‑cat meet‑and‑greets, as they are stressful and not behaviorally accurate.

- With enough time, the entire process can be completed in one visit.
